The Hy-Tech® Technology

Water in Oil Emulsion

Dr Spiller’s Hy-Tech® technology is built around a sophisticated Water-in-Oil emulsion system.

Each microscopic water droplet — containing water-based active ingredients — is gently encapsulated within a thin lipid membrane rich in oil-soluble actives.

This structure closely resembles liposomes in both appearance and performance on the skin.

The surrounding lipid membrane serves two important purposes:

• It protects the enclosed water phase from microbial contamination

• It biomimetically replicates the skin’s own barrier lipids

These lipids mirror the skin’s natural composition, including triglycerides, wax esters, squalene, cholesterol, free fatty acids and ceramides.

Biomimetic Vitamin E (tocopherol) is incorporated to protect the lipid membrane from oxidation — just as it naturally protects the skin’s own lipids.

Through this intelligent design, Hy-Tech® technology closely replicates the skin’s hydro-lipidic barrier, allowing actives to be delivered efficiently while respecting and strengthening the skin’s integrity.

DR SPILLER'S TECHNOLOGY

Disrupt the skin’s protective hydro-lipid barrier, and interfere with the skin’s natural water-in-oil emulsion

Replicates the hydro-lipidic barrier's water-in-oil emulsion

Increased preservation system is required as bacteria thrive in water. A higher level of preservation may interfere with the skin's natural ecosystem.

Minimal preservation is required as bacteria don't easily proliferate in oil. Further stability is achieved with Vitamin E, a lipid based anti- oxidant and natural preservative.

High level emulsifiers (HLB-value 8-16) cause disturbance of the skin's hydro-lipidic barrier, may lead to irritation and dehydration.

Reduced HLB values of 3-6 minimise disruption to the skin's hydro-lipidic barrier and microbiome system.

Moisturising effect lasts minutes only. Water phase evaporates rapidly, leading to further dehydration.

Long-lasting moisturising effect as proven in numerous scientific tests (see illustration below).

Scientific long-term study does not show any effect on elasticity of the skin.

12-month study on 30 volunteers shows significant beneficial effect on skin elasticity.
